Are you planning to get out of town for an early spring getaway with your family and friends? We can help you add as much as two extra days to your March vacation by flying privately. Let us explain how.
Most vacation destinations will require a full day of travel to arrive and depart from your home. By traveling privately you will be able to travel directly from your home to your destination, allowing you to reduce costly travel time, begin your vacation sooner, and stay longer.
If you want a few extra days at your favorite vacation spot, consider these popular jets to get you there.
The Gulfstream 550 is a long-range heavy jet and is considered a best-in-value business aircraft. According to the National
Aeronautic Association, the G550’s design team was awarded the Collier Trophy for “leading-edge achievement in designing, testing and building an innovative aircraft while incorporating measurable safety enhancements and far-reaching advances in aerospace
The G550 is an ultra-long-range business jet that can travel non-stop over 7,282 statute miles at a cruise speed of 614 mph, able to travel from New York to Dubai non-stop. The Gulfstream 550 leaves passengers wanting for nothing. Cabin amenities generally
include: a full-service galley, Wi-Fi, power outlets, video monitors, telephone/SATCOM, a fax machine, a CD/DVD/Blue-ray player, an Airshow System, noise-canceling headsets, and cabin speakers. This jet offers a fully enclosed lavatory and 169 cubic feet of ample baggage space.
The Gulfstream G550 sets the standard for reliability, comfort and performance. The spacious interior of the G550 is 1669 cubic feet, with a cabin height of 6’2″, width of 7’3″ and length of 50’1″. This heavy jet can seat up to 16 people at max capacity in the large stand-up cabin and berth up to 8. The cabin is made for
conducting business and acts as a fully functioning office in the sky. Advanced soundproofing technologies cut outside noise
significantly, electric window shades allow easy visibility of
electronic devices, and console tables make the perfect work space. To combat fatigue and contribute to passenger comfort, 100% fresh air is circulated around the cabin every two minutes. The 14
signature Gulfstream oval windows also allow for more natural light in the cabin, letting in the view from every angle.
The technological capabilities in the G550’s cockpit are also quite impressive. “Working with avionics partner Honeywell, Gulfstream in 2003 introduced the PlaneView cockpit, making it the most
technologically advanced business jet flight system in existence. Since then, the flight deck has continued to evolve and improve, and by design, easily accepts software upgrades. PlaneView uses four liquid crystal displays to present essential flight data in larger, crisper images that make ever-changing flight conditions easier to analyze.” Equipped with an Enhanced Vision System (EVS) and Head-Up Display (HUD), pilots can easily monitor their
surroundings even in low visibility conditions.
We use the acronym FBO quite liberally when booking a trip, but not everyone knows exactly what it stands for. A Fixed base operator (FBO) is a term developed in the United States after the passage of the Air Commerce Act of 1926. In common practice, an FBO is a
primary provider of support services to private or general aviation. FBOs are free of the congestion and confinement of a commercial terminal, providing a more relaxed and private environment.
The History of FBOs:
In November 1918, after the end of World War I, civil aviation in the United States was unregulated and primarily made up of “barnstormers.” These transient pilots operated inexpensive military
surplus aircraft, flying from city-to-city, often landing in farm fields on the outskirts of town, as airports were scarce.
The traveling aviators offered airplane rides, aerobatic flight
demonstrations, and frequently collaborated as “Flying Circuses,”
performing impromptu airshows for the townsfolk, and charging whatever the local economic conditions would allow. As a result, mechanics and early flight instructors moved around with the
aircraft and had no established business in any one location.
With passage of the Air Commerce Act of 1926 and its resulting
requirements in the licensing of pilots, aircraft maintenance
requirements, and regulations in training standards, the transient nature of civil aviation was curtailed. The pilots and mechanics that made their living on the road began establishing permanent
businesses, termed Fixed Base Operations. These airports quickly began popping up throughout the United States as a way to
distinguish permanent businesses from the transient businesses common prior to 1926.
Today many FBO’s have sleek waiting areas, state-of-the-art
conference rooms, flight planning facilities, pilot rest areas,
automobile valet and rental services, and on-site customer service that will provide you with personal assistance.
Ultimately, the FBO provides fuel service. Today fuel prices are volatile and each operator has varying relationships with FBOs to ensure the best pricing. At FlyPrivate we work with each operator, leveraging our relationships, to provide you with the best pricingpossible. At times this may entail the switch of an FBO in order to uphold this commitment to you and we appreciate your cooperation.
Let us help you with a Flight Quote Request and give you the peace of mind that comes when you partner with FlyPrivate. We look forward to your next trip and a visit to a new or a familiar FBO.
The TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) requires that all passengers over the age of 18 provide proper identification prior to boarding an aircraft. This regulation also applies to private aircraft. Please make sure you have acceptable identification in the event the pilots ask you or your guests to provide it.
Prior to the trip your name is submitted to the TSA. The TSA checks all passenger names against individuals listed on the “no-fly” list. However, the crew may ask you or your guests to produce photo identification to confirm your identity.
The pilots may be mandated to check identification. There can be substantial fines for an operator who is found to be in
non-compliance. So please don’t take it personally if you are asked.
We can keep a copy of your license or other acceptable ID on file as back up in the event you lose or misplace it. Ask Client Services for details.
Non-US/Canadian citizens are not required to carry their passports if they have documents issued by the U.S. government such as Permanent Resident Cards. Those who do not should be carrying their passports while visiting the U.S.
This standardization of the list of accepted documents better aligns TSA with other DHS components, including Customs and Border Protection, and REAL ID benchmarks.

1. Always tell us in advance if you plan to travel with your pet. We want to ensure that your aircraft is pet friendly and the crew is not allergic to pets.
2. Keep in mind that the rules and regulations will change if you’re flying internationally and each country does have varying laws about the importation of pets.
3. Bring a small, carry-on kennel or crate so your pet is safe during take-off and landing. Most jets allow dogs to fly outside of the crate by their owners’ side during the rest of the flight, as long as they are well behaved.
4. If traveling with your dog, bring a harness in case there is
turbulence on the flight. This will allow the dog to be strapped to a designated seating area with his owner.
5. Bring a cozy blanket your dog can use as a bed during the flight. The blanket will also help protect the seats on the jet from damage.
6. If you’re flying during your pet’s mealtime, be sure to pack food for your dog or we will be happy to arrange to have dog treats on the flight.
7. You may also wish to bring a quiet toy or bone to keep your dog occupied and quiet during the flight.
8. Make sure your pet gets a bathroom break before boarding the aircraft. If you’re planning a longer trip and need a stop-over during your flight to give your dog a break, let us know in advance and we will arrange this for you.
